Fulfilling last wishes: VAHLE donates to the Wish Wagon
The Christmas donation of Paul Vahle GmbH & Co. KG is again going to the wish car Westphalia of the Arbeiter-Samariter-Bund RV Münsterland e.V. (ASB) this year. With the money, the ASB regional association Münsterland finances a last wish for seriously ill people.
This year, the Christmas donation from Paul Vahle GmbH & Co. KG is once again going to the Wünschewagen Westfalen of the Arbeiter-Samariter-Bund RV Münsterland e.V. (ASB). The Kamen-based company is presenting a check for 2,500 euros to the volunteer project team. With the money, the ASB regional association Münsterland finances a last wish for seriously ill people. The initiative has been in existence since 2014; since 2018, the ASB Wish Wagon has been operating in Westphalia with a location in Münster.
"At Christmas, we not only want to think of and give presents to the people we have around us every day - family, colleagues, customers - but above all to those who are less well off. That's why our Christmas donation this year will once again go to the ASB-Wünschewagen," explains Achim Dries, Managing Director of Paul Vahle GmbH & Co KG. The ASB project is aimed specifically at people in their final phase of life and fulfills their last wish. After all, excursions are often difficult to implement for many families. Often, passengers may only be transported lying down or under medical supervision. Even the journey from the hospital to home or to the park can become an insurmountable hurdle - not to mention a trip to the seaside or the stadium. The ASB-Wünschewagen supports families in particular who do not dare to make an excursion on their own and takes the passengers to their favorite place.
The fleet now comprises a total of 23 converted ambulances across Germany, financed solely by donations. The ASB team, consisting of rescue and nursing staff, takes their passengers to their desired destination free of charge and under optimal medical observation and care - whether one or two hundred kilometers away, to their home, to a concert, to a soccer match or to the nearest beach. "If with our donation we can contribute to even one person being able to travel to the place they thought they would never reach again, it will have been worth it," explains the CEO. "We are therefore happy to be able to make a contribution to helping sick people in Westphalia fulfill their last wish."
