Historic milestone: Groundbreaking ceremony for VAHLE Campus in Kamen
With the ground-breaking ceremony for the new VAHLE Campus, VAHLE is showing its commitment to the location and the region. The investment of more than 60 million euros in a new headquarters at the company's headquarters is a major step in the company's history. High-ranking guests such as Minister President Wüst and Mayor Kappen were also present.
With a ground-breaking ceremony today, Paul Vahle GmbH & Co. KG officially gave the starting signal for one of the most ambitious construction projects in the company's history: the new VAHLE Campus in Kamen. In front of high-ranking political guests - including Minister President Hendrik Wüst and Kamen's Mayor Elke Kappen - as well as the VAHLE shareholder family and leading representatives from business and society, VAHLE set a strong signal for the future of the region. A four-storey administration building, ultra-modern production facilities and a versatile event pavilion are being built on the campus. The opening is planned for the second half of 2027.
"For us, Kamen is much more than just a location - it is the heart of our company history, the root of our success and a central component of our vision for the future," emphasizes Achim Dries, Managing Director of Paul Vahle GmbH & Co. "With this investment, we are not only strengthening our competitiveness, but also positioning ourselves as a particularly attractive employer in the region."
VAHLE has been rooted in Kamen since 1956. With the new campus, the world's leading provider of energy and data transmission solutions for mobile applications is creating the ideal conditions to significantly expand its production capacities from 2027 and meet the growing demand. To this end, a new administration building and state-of-the-art production facilities are being built on the approximately 50,000 square meter site on Westicker Strasse, which will set new standards in busbar production and the associated system elements.
The floor space of around 15,300 square meters comprises a state-of-the-art factory with advanced storage areas, including an automated small parts warehouse, an automated pallet warehouse and a honeycomb warehouse. Sustainability plays a central role here: the building is being constructed to the highest ecological standards and integrates a photovoltaic system and a heat pump for sustainable energy generation, among other things - in line with the company's own strategy. "With a total investment of over 60 million euros, we are not only sending a clear signal for our further growth, but also reaffirming our close ties with Kamen," says Dries.
The ground-breaking ceremony began at 12:30 p.m. with a reception, followed by speeches from Minister President of North Rhine-Westphalia Hendrik Wüst, Mayor Elke Kappen and shareholder Marlen Vahle as well as Achim Dries. In his speech, Minister President Hendrik Wüst emphasized the economic importance of the project: "The new VAHLE Campus is a strong commitment to North Rhine-Westphalia as a business location, a future-oriented project with exemplary character. With this investment, VAHLE is creating modern jobs, promoting innovation and demonstrating how industrial performance and sustainability can go hand in hand. This is the way in which we are advancing North Rhine-Westphalia as a strong, competitive and climate-friendly business location."
The official start of the construction work was marked by the symbolic ground-breaking ceremony, before the guests took the opportunity for a personal exchange at the subsequent get-together.
After the official part, the historic milestone was duly celebrated together with the employees, the VAHLE shareholder family and other guests. Company employees and visitors came together in a relaxed atmosphere to celebrate the future of the VAHLE Campus.
