VAHLE accompanies NRW business delegation to the United Arab Emirates
VAHLE accompanied a trip to the United Arab Emirates as part of the NRW business delegation under Minister President Hendrik Wüst. CEO Achim Dries presented innovative solutions for sustainable port logistics - already successfully in use at Port Khalifa and Ain Dubai.
Kamen, April 25, 2025 - Paul Vahle GmbH & Co KG, a leading global specialist for energy and data transmission as well as automation solutions in industrial applications, was part of the official business delegation of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia on a trip to the United Arab Emirates. The delegation was led by NRW Minister President Hendrik Wüst. The aim of the trip was to deepen economic relations and open up new cooperation potential for companies from North Rhine-Westphalia.
"It is a great honor for us, as a true hidden champion with North Rhine-Westphalian roots, to have been part of this business delegation and to represent the SME sector on the international stage. At the same time, it is a strong signal that VAHLE technologies are already making a concrete contribution to sustainable progress in the Gulf region, for example at the Port Khalifa terminal," emphasizes Achim Dries, CEO and Managing Director of the VAHLE Group.
Dries took part in the delegation trip as an official member of the VAHLE Group. Together with leading companies from Germany's most populous federal state - including RWE, Uniper, WILO SE, Deutsche Post, Covestro, Thyssenkrupp, Adesso, SwissSteel, SPG Steiner, eleQtron, Duisburger Hafen and the Borussia Dortmund soccer club - and renowned institutions such as the Jülich Research Center, RWTH Aachen University and the European School of Management and Technology, he represented North Rhine-Westphalia as a location for innovation and industry.
The trip also included a visit to the recently opened Port Khalifa container terminal in Abu Dhabi - a location where VAHLE technologies are already being used successfully. In the container aisles of the terminal, systems from the Kamen-based specialist for energy and data transmission ensure highly automated port operations. The electrification replaces conventional diesel generators on the container cranes and thus makes a significant contribution to CO2 reduction and the sustainable transformation of global supply chains. Fully automated container handling, controlled by the so-called "Operation Desk", also increases efficiency, safety and process stability in daily port operations.
Equipping the port in Abu Dhabi is not VAHLE's only flagship project in the region. The world's largest Ferris wheel, the Ain Dubai, is located in the neighboring emirate of Dubai. Here, too, systems from Kamen are being used: VAHLE supplied the customized conductor rails for the electrification of the 48 luxury cabins. Dries adds: "In addition to the power supply, we are also responsible for safety - with a special conductor rail, we ensure that lightning strikes are reliably diverted at a height of over 250 meters."
The appearance in Abu Dhabi does not mark the last joint appointment with Minister President Wüst: On May 9, 2025, VAHLE will celebrate the official ground-breaking ceremony for its new company campus in Kamen - a forward-looking project with an investment volume of over 60 million euros. Minister President Hendrik Wüst is expected to be the keynote speaker, along with numerous guests from business, politics and the region.
