Pupils learn about apprenticeships, day-to-day work and career opportunities at the Kamen-based systems provider

On today’s Girls’ and Boys’ Day, Paul Vahle GmbH & Co. KG in Kamen gave 21 school pupils an insight into the working world of a modern industrial company. The young people, from Year 8 upwards, were given a tour of the site and learnt about various apprenticeship roles as well as processes in production and administration. Once again this year, the event was organised entirely by the company’s apprentices.

“Girls’ and Boys’ Day is an important opportunity for us to make early contact with potential future employees and give them concrete insights into our apprenticeship programmes,” says Julia Hofmann, HR Consultant and Trainer at VAHLE.

Under the motto “Future Day at VAHLE”, the pupils gained theoretical and practical insights into various apprenticeship roles at the Kamen site. These included activities in the fields of IT, industry, electronics, manufacturing, product design and logistics.

A key focus of the event was direct interaction with the company’s apprentices. They accompanied the young people on a tour of the production facilities, administration and the VAHLE showroom, offering insights into their own daily working lives.

“The interaction with our trainees is a central part of Future Day. This gives the young people authentic insights into training at VAHLE,” says Hofmann. The trainees took full responsibility for organising the event themselves – from planning the content and looking after the participants to carrying out the programme activities.

“We are delighted by the huge interest in Future Day and the in-depth exchange with the young people,” says Hofmann. As the largest employer in Kamen, VAHLE makes targeted use of Girls’ and Boys’ Day to give young people an insight into industrial apprenticeships and to provide early guidance for their career start.
