Background
After two years of intensive collaboration, the time has finally come: the OLYMPIC-BAU project has been successfully completed! On the day of the inauguration ceremony, which was also documented in a short film, the smooth installation and flawless functioning of the system was celebrated. And because we like to have a laugh, we treated ourselves to something special for 1 April: the smallest “People Mover” in the world – a 5-inch train – featured as a reference. Of course, it was just an April Fool’s joke!
The challenge
The model building application placed special demands on the energy transmission. It was essential to find a compact and reliable solution that could be optimally integrated into the existing support structure. In addition, a smooth interface adaptation had to be guaranteed in order to ensure long-term operation.
Our solution
The track system works with a 2-pole DC solution with a total length of 40 meters. For the power supply, 10 x 6 m long U10 busbars were supplied without pre-bending at the factory. A PE rail was not required, as earthing is carried out via the conductor rail.
The compact holder (type 02 KA) and the compact current collector (type 02ST) play a decisive role in the reliable transfer of energy. Particular attention was paid to the correct integration of the interfaces to the support structure in order to ensure a perfect fit and smooth operation. And even if the “People Mover” is only a model – the technology is real!
