Overhead hoist transport (OHT) systems are used wherever materials must be moved automatically above the floor. Typical applications include intralogistics systems in warehouses and distribution centers, production logistics in automotive and industrial plants as well as cleanrooms and semiconductor fabs. OHT carriers travel on overhead tracks and transport containers, pallets or workpiece carriers between storage, production and inspection areas while keeping aisles and workspaces free.
These systems place high demands on power supply, data communication and positioning technology. Energy and signals must be supplied continuously along complex overhead routes with curves, switches and height changes. In cleanroom or sensitive production environments, components must meet strict cleanliness and safety requirements, while in intralogistics and automotive plants they must withstand high throughput, multi-shift operation and tight installation spaces.
