APOS Magnetic (Touchless)

Cranes, conveyors and automated industrial systems require precise, reliable position feedback to ensure safe and efficient operation. VAHLE's APOS Magnetic (Touchless) positioning system delivers absolute position values with millimeter-level accuracy using a contactless magnetic detection process.

The system operates with a magnetic code tape and a read head guided along the tape via a carriage system. Because the scanning process is completely contactless, there is no mechanical wear between the read head and the code tape — ensuring long service life and minimal maintenance requirements.

As an absolute positioning system, APOS Magnetic (Touchless) provides the correct position value immediately after power-up or voltage interruption. No reference movement or homing procedure is required. In contrast to the gliding variant, the Touchless version ensures completely non-contact scanning of the magnetic code tape.

The magnetic detection method is resistant to moisture, dust and changing light conditions, making it ideal for harsh industrial environments such as crane systems, bucket conveyors and heavy-duty material handling applications. 

The system can be integrated with VAHLE KBH or MKH conductor rail systems or installed independently as part of a complete automation solution. The APOS Magnetic (Touchless) system is compatible with products from our portfolio for energy supply (vPOWER), data transmission (vCOM) and control (vDRIVE) and is available as a comprehensive solution.
