VAHLE receives ISO certificate for in-house occupational health and safety
"As a company, we are responsible for our employees and place the highest value on their safety in the workplace," explains Achim Dries, Managing Director of Paul Vahle GmbH & Co. KG. The Kamen-based family business was recently certified for its redesigned occupational health and safety management system. "The new action plan now also includes processes such as risk assessment, emergency management and employee consultation and participation," says Dries, adding: "Other areas will follow."
These extensions became necessary when the previous Occupational Health and Safety Assessment Series was replaced by DIN standard 45001:2018 two years ago. Marc Rubeau, occupational safety specialist at VAHLE, reports: "The standard is much more process-oriented. We used a checklist to work out the new requirements and assigned tasks to the individual departments." The implementation went smoothly, as the entire team pulled together.
"The top priority is that all employees come to work healthy in the morning and go home just as healthy at the end of the day," says Rubeau. Thanks to the optimized occupational health and safety management, the Kamen-based system provider also ensures greater transparency to the outside world: "With the certificate, we prove to the authorities as well as our partners and customers that we work in compliance with the law. This secures us supply orders and therefore jobs in the long term," says Rubeau.
