The Christmas donation from Paul Vahle GmbH & Co KG is once again going to the Westphalia Wish Wagon of the Arbeiter-Samariter-Bund RV Münsterland e.V. (ASB) this year. The Kamen-based company handed over a check for 2,500 euros to the volunteer project team. The ASB Münsterland regional association will use the money to finance a last wish for seriously ill people. The initiative has existed since 2014; the ASB Wish Wagon in Westphalia, based in Münster, has been operating since 2018.
"At Christmas, we don't just want to think about and give presents to the people we are around every day - family, colleagues, customers - but above all to those who are less well off. That's why our Christmas donation this year is once again going to the ASB Wish Wagon," explains Achim Dries, Managing Director of Paul Vahle GmbH & Co KG. The ASB project is aimed specifically at people in their final phase of life and fulfills their last wish. This is because excursions are often difficult for many families to organize. Passengers are often only allowed to be transported lying down or under medical supervision. This means that even the journey from hospital to home or to the park can become an insurmountable hurdle - not to mention a trip to the seaside or to the stadium. ASB's wish car supports families in particular who are unable to make a trip on their own and takes passengers to their favorite place.
The fleet now comprises a total of 23 converted ambulances across Germany, which are financed solely by donations. The ASB team, consisting of rescue and nursing staff, takes their passengers free of charge and under optimal medical observation and care to their desired destination - whether it is one or two hundred kilometers away, home, to a concert, to a soccer match or to the nearest beach. "If our donation can help even one person to travel to the place they thought they would never reach again, it will have been worth it," explains the Managing Director. "We are therefore pleased to be able to make a contribution to fulfilling the last wish of sick people in Westphalia."
